February 2-3, 2023 in Almaty (Republic of Kazakhstan) held a meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council

Among the most important decisions concerning the economic and social development of the EAEU member states was the adoption of Order No. 6 of February 3, 2023 on the inclusion of the "Eurasian Agroexpress" transportations carried out via the "North-South" ITC in the direction of Turkmenistan, the Islamic Republic of Iran, the United Arab Emirates and the Republic of India into the joint integration project.

The decision made by the heads of five states is connected with the fact that pilot shipments within the framework of "Eurasian Agroexpress" project showed the attractiveness and efficiency of agricultural products deliveries along the "North-South" corridor.

"In connection with the reorientation of a number of transport routes, the demand for the North-South corridor has increased significantly. Pilot shipments to Iran and India made within the framework of the project confirmed the attractiveness of the direction. Our countries have great potential for expanding their transit and export potential," said Andrey Slepnev, Minister of Trade of the Eurasian Economic Commission.

At that he especially emphasized the exceeding of the targets of the "Eurasian Aeroexpress" during the first year of its work.
A total of 525.5 thousand tons was transported within the project in 2022, including 282.9 thousand tons of refrigerated cargo.
The nomenclature of goods included chicken and beef meat, milk powder, oil and fats, fruits and vegetables and leguminous products.

"Despite the current restrictions from China on the supply of products in connection with the pandemic, multimodal transport to this country was very active," - said Andrei Slepnev.

Achievement of agreements with the People's Republic of China on the removal of restrictive measures and optimization of customs and other administrative procedures in the transport of agricultural products is also noted in the adopted Order.

The meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council was attended by heads of government of the Eurasian Economic Union - Chairman of the EMU, Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Mikhail Mishustin, Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan, Prime Minister of Belarus Roman Golovchenko, Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Alikhan Smailov, Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan Akylbek Zhaparov, as well as Chairman of the College of the Eurasian Economic Commission Mikhail Myasnikovich and heads of government of Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan.
